THE
RIPPER FIGURE
My idea
for a Jack the Ripper diorama came from the Sideshow
Toys "London After
Midnight" figure. I thought from the back that it looked a lot like the
Ripper might have looked. I removed the "bat wings" from the figure's
coat, cut his hair shorter, and added some black socks to cover his bare ankles
that were showing. His black Doctor's bag cames from a Barbie set and he
has a knife from the Sideshow Toys "Custer”
figure.
THE
VICTIM FIGURE
The victim
is an Ultimate Soldier WACC. I kept her stockings and added female short
boots from the Old Joe
Infirmary. The
clothes and hair are from Barbie's "My Fair Lady--Flower
Girl".
THE
BACKGROUND
Believe it or
not, the scenery is made from regular brown cardboard box! My original
intent was to just use the cardboard to make a rough idea of what I wanted, so I
could see what it might look like. But the more I worked on it, the better
it began to look. I painted the cardboard with water-based acrylic craft
paints, and drew the bricks in with a soft pencil, using a ruler. I got
the posters from the Internet and printed them on a color printer. The
"Mitre Square" sign also came from the Internet, but I changed the street name
using a font from a word processing program and then printed it on the
printer. The sewer pipe is regular brass tubing from a hobby store painted
gloss black.
